THURSDAY | APRIL 17 | 1 PM – 2 PM
Norma Kershaw Auditorium| Onsite Book Discussion & Tour
The April book selection is entitled All the Beauty in the World, written by Patrick Bringley, a ten-year security guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This memoir follows the daily routine of a security guard and his interaction with the museum’s collection, visitors, personnel, and ambience. “As rich in moving insights as the Met is in treasures, All the Beauty in the World reminds us of the importance of learning not "about art, but from it." This is art appreciation at a profound level.” (NPR, 2/14/2023)
Members will enjoy this wonderful celebration of the power of art and its ability to speak to us across centuries, cultures and continents. Bowers Museum’s security guards will participate in the discussion. Available in hardcover and paperback, 180 pages, copyright 2023.
Following the in-person discussion in the museum auditorium, a Docent-led museum tour will highlight favorite objects on display chosen by museum staff.
Admission is free and space is limited to 30 Bowers Museum members. A confirmation email will be sent to participants prior to the event.
